Boreal Chickadee is found in the darker shade of grey in the map above year round.  Their diet consist of insects and seeds, such as grasshoppers, caterpillars, beetles and many more.  They brood once a year and have a clutch size of 4 to 9 eggs that are white, with reddish brown dots.  Incubation is 11 to 16 days and the young leave the nest 18 days after hatching.

BIRDHOUSES

Any exterior shape, size or design with the interior dimensions of a 4" x 4" floor to a 5.5" x 5.5" floor. Interior height 8" to 10".  An entrance hole of 1 1/8" in diameter that is 6" to 8" of the floor.  You can hang your house anywhere from 4' to 15'.  with the entry hole facing in any direction away from the most common wind direction.  If you plan to place more than one nest box for the Boreal Chickadee, space your nest boxes 730' apart to avoid territorial denomination.
